New Hope,
On Tuesday, the Governor released guidelines for reopening churches in Virginia
(www.virginia.gov/coronavirus/forwardvirginia/#856622).
Similarly, we have developed a plan with three-phases to Reopen New Hope.
Phase 1:
First, we will continue online-only services through Sunday, May 24 (Memorial
Day Weekend). This gives us time to prepare to reopen responsibly with all of the
necessary health and safety precautions. It’s also important to know that our
online worship services will be ongoing
.
Phase 2:
Second, we intend to reopen beginning Sunday, May 31, at reduced capacity
with three worship services at 9.a.m., 10:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.
These 45-minute, touch-free worship experiences will include socially-distanced seating,
an overflow venue in the Fellowship Hall, and preregistration for the service you will
attend. All of our staff and volunteers will wear facial coverings and we strongly
recommend everyone attending to do the same.
We will not offer snack/coffee stations and we will not pass any plates during the
service. Instead, prepackaged communion will be placed on every chair by someone
wearing gloves and a mask, offering boxes will be available for giving, and we will clean
in-between every service. Further, we will not offer Children’s Ministry Programming
(birth-5th grade) or classes/groups for adults during this phase.
*Note: children and student ministry as well as classes/groups for adults will continue to
meet online.
Phase 3:
Lastly, we will resume services at regular capacity as well as children’s
ministry and classes/groups for adults. However, we do not yet know when this will
begin or what ongoing guidelines will be recommended. When that information is
available, we will send out an update.
Throughout all of these phases, we encourage people to continue worshiping online
until they feel comfortable returning to a physical gathering.
New Hope—we are resilient! We will make it through this pandemic. And, we will come
out on the other side stronger and more ready than ever to fulfill our mission.
